Cosmopolitan Railway ~ Gilpin's Global Vision!

Thanks to Wikipedia and Google Books for informing me about -- and making possible reading -- William Gilpin's epic futurist work, The Cosmopolitan Railway! An explorer, land speculator, and first territorial governor of Colorado, Gilpin's visionary goal was no less than Compacting and Fusing Together All the World's Continents. Way back in 1890, he was one of the first to envision a land route to Alaska and propose a bridge from America to Russia and Eurasia via the Bering Strait.
