
The 2009 MIT
IDEAS Competition finale last night was a great showcase of nearly three dozen emerging products and services. As David Chandler writes in his TechTalk piece,
Eight teams win IDEAS awards ~ Grants will support efforts in developing nations and other underserved communities. The winning concepts included:
- Lebônê -- Dirt microbes-driven fuel cell;
- EGG -- Rechargeable battery novel distribution system;
- Aquaport -- Modular water transport system;
- Global Citizen Water Initiative -- Water test system;
- 6-Dot -- Type and print Braille labels for the blind;
- Seeing Machine -- Digital vision aid for some blind;
- HeatSource -- Phase-change material for heat storage;
- BLISS -- Innovative education initiative;
