Norman Borlaug ~ R.I.P. Green Revolutionary...
Sad to hear Norman Borlaug passed away yesterday at age 95. His "Green Revolution" in agriculture saved more than a billion lives with better breeds of wheat, rice and other crops allowing self-sufficiency in developing countries. Starting with Rockefeller funded research in Mexico in the early 1940s, the ideas were adopted in India by the early 1960s and spread widely. See here salutes in the LATimes, the BBC, and the LondonTimes.
