University Residential Communities ~ MIT's Key Opportunity...
It's quite exciting to see the construction progress at 303 Third Street in Kendall Square, Cambridge. That's the new University Residential Communities spearheaded by MIT's President Emeritus Paul Gray and MIT's Planning Director Emeritus Bob Simha. When completed, this development designed by Cetra / Ruddy will be an integrated design, mixing retail and residential, with superior amenities, and so forth... I personally recommend that MIT President Susan Hockfield and Provost Rafael Reif consider co-investing in the development by purchasing at least 10 units for special use by young Institute faculty members just beginning their careers, and another 5 to 10 units for use by visiting faculty -- such as those participating in the MIT China Management Education Project -- and other distinguished visitors to the MIT community. Or alternatively, perhaps a generous donor will see the wisdom of such a move and purchase the units as part of a philanthropic gift to the Institute...
